Huacachina sandboarding prices and what Peru trips cost
A sledding run at sunset and a day on snow gear are both called sandboarding, and their prices are far apart. Here is what each kind of trip starts from, and what you pay on top.

Price levels for the same dunes
Huacachina sandboarding prices fall into clear bands, and the gap between them comes down to what you ride. At the bottom sit short buggy rides with a board: a 1-hour sunset ride starts from $17. In the middle sit the sledding tours of 2 to 4 hours, led by the most reviewed one from $23.
The top band is stand-up riding on snow gear. A 4-hour outing with drone videos and a 4x4 buggy starts from $47, a 4-hour sandboard or sandski outing with a bonfire from $48, and a smaller 4-hour bonfire evening from $59. On Viator, a professional sandboard and sandski school starts from $56.
All these figures are from-prices as the booking platforms show them, converted into your currency. The final price depends on the date, the option and the number of people, and the checkout shows it before you pay. Use these numbers to compare, not as a quote. Prices for the same outing can also differ between options on the same listing, for example a private group against a shared buggy, so open the option list before you settle on a figure.

What the cheaper tours give you
The most reviewed tour shows what a mid-price ticket buys. For a from-price of $23 you get hotel pickup in Huacachina or Ica, a board for each traveler ridden on the belly or sitting, photos and videos and a sand bandana. The listing gives 2.5 hours at Huacachina with the sunset.
A sunset ride and sledding of 3.5 hours costs about the same, from $24, with pickup included from Ica. The 1-hour ride from $17 is the cheapest way onto the sand, though an hour leaves little time once the group has climbed in and out of the buggy.
Cheaper is not always cheaper in the end. A 75-minute outing from $41 says riding upright needs a pro board that you hire on top. If you want to stand, compare its total with the snow-gear outings, where the boots and bindings are already in the price. Add the rental to the ticket and the cheap outing may cost almost as much, for less time on the sand.

Fees and extras the listings leave out
Budget for the entrance to Huacachina. By PromPeru's figures, a foreign visitor pays PEN 8.10 to enter, a Peruvian from elsewhere PEN 4.00 and a local PEN 2.00.1 The most reviewed tour names the same charge as the Huacachina conservation area tax and gives it as PEN 8.00; carry small notes for it either way.
Insurance, drinks and meals are also left out of that tour. The 4-hour snow-gear outing excludes accident insurance and the conservation area tax as well. Check that your own travel insurance covers adventure activities before you go; the listings make clear that they do not cover you.
Tips are your call, and nobody on the dunes should pressure you for one. Guides who spend an evening coaching you to stand up on a board, or drivers who handle the buggy with care, earn a little extra. Bring cash in soles, as PromPeru puts cash on its list of essentials for a visit to the lagoon.2

Prices around Lima and in Paracas
Sandboarding from Lima costs more per outing but saves the long drive south. A half-day sandboarding tour starts from $150, a 6.5-hour sandboarding and jeep tour from $159 and the top-rated dune day on Viator, with snowboards, boots and bindings, from $199.
The Viator dune day includes private transportation, snacks, bottled water, photos and videos and all fees and taxes, which makes its price easier to compare. Lunch, dinner and alcohol are extra. Given the gear and the transport, the higher price buys a full day of riding rather than a sunset slide.
In Paracas, a 1-hour buggy and sandboarding outing starts from $50, and the 3-hour oasis trips from $75 and $83. Entry to the Paracas National Reserve, where an outing goes inside it, is PEN 11.00 for adults and PEN 3.00 for minors.3
Cerro Blanco and the Nazca combinations
The giant dune near Nasca is free to enter, according to MINCETUR's record, and open from 06:00 to 17:00 all year.4 The cost is in getting there and up. The listing we found that goes to Cerro Blanco is a 6-hour half day from Nasca from $380, with transport, boards, entry fees and a trekking guide.
The Nazca Lines add their own price. A 35-minute flight from Nasca starts from $125. A day from Ica or Huacachina that flies over the lines and ends with a buggy at Huacachina starts from $165.
From Lima the combinations climb fast. A full day with the flight and then a buggy and sandboard session at Huacachina starts from $350, and a GetYourGuide version from $360. A 2-day tour with the flight, Paracas and Huacachina starts from $266.
Day trips from Lima: price per hour on the sand
Day trips from Lima look cheap for what they cover. An 18-hour day with Paracas, a pisco vineyard and Huacachina starts from $49, but its buggy and sandboarding are included only with the Premium option and are added on the bus otherwise.
The most reviewed day trip starts from $94 and fits a 120-minute buggy and board session at Huacachina into a 16-hour day. A GetYourGuide luxury day with lunch starts from $90, and an 18-hour trip with the Ballestas Islands, buggies and sandboarding from $75, with a Spanish-speaking guide only.
Judge these by the dune time, not the total. A day trip buys the whole south coast and a taste of the sand; a Lima dune day buys hours of riding; a local tour bought in Ica buys the dunes at the lowest price but needs a night there. Pick the one that matches why you came. On a tight budget, a night in Ica can stretch your money furthest: a bus south, a local tour at sunset and a slow morning by the lagoon before moving on.
Getting good value, and what about buggy rental
If you searched for Huacachina dune buggy rental, know what the listings sell: seats on buggies driven by the operator's drivers. The most reviewed tour offers a private group, which is the nearest thing to having a buggy to yourself. In Paracas, a 2-hour mini buggy outing lets drivers aged 18 or over take the wheel themselves.
Booking terms help your budget. The tours compared here allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and several also let you reserve now and pay later. That lets you lock in a sunset slot early and still change plans if a bus runs late.
Finally, value is not only price. PromPeru warns travelers off dune buggy services, since they operate without regulation or official checks.5 Paying a little more for an operator with a clear safety briefing, seat belts and licensed drivers is money well spent on a ride like this. Ask about all three when you book, and walk away from any driver who will not answer.
